A night with the Stars

On Saturday Jan 14th I spent an evening with the stars, well sort of. Last night was the annual celebrity ski charity event, for the Waterkeepr Alliance. This is when the richest of the rich prove to us regular wage earners just how much money they have. The event was held at the beautiful Chateau Lake Louise surrounded by 18 cm of fresh snow. It was a truly impressive venue for the party. Mum and I arrived at the Chateau and had to find out where she was going to display her painting for the silent auction. So we did that then had to find a place to change. Thank goodness mum knew the general manager and could drop his name, cause the sweety at the front desk gave us a room to get glammed up in; for free! So there we were in the swank room, getting dressed and slowly getting more and more nervous to meet these famous peeps. I got myself looking pretty cool/dressy in my avant guard grey parachute top/skirt, grey tights silver Stewart Wisemen strappy sandals and my pearls. I was ready to go and be seen. We headed down the elevator and mum realized she had forgotten her cards. Headed back up to the room, grabbed them, then made our way to the party. Our stomachs were churning thinking about how few would be bidding on mum's fabulous grizzly. First person I spot once we made it up the giant staircase was Larry David. All I could think of was "where is Matt when I need him." Larry looks exactly the same as he does in Curb your Enthusiasm. Funny. Then we made our way through the mass amount of people to get a drink. Didn't see anyone else until a bit later when I noticed Alec Baldwin checking out some of the auction items. I decided that it was time to be brave and see if anyone had bid on the painting. YUP! but only $300. Bummer. Left it for a while and tried to relax. Saw Robin Leach, and two dorks thinking it was funny to dress up like the Dumb and Dumber team in their orange and blue outfits. Yuck! I also saw the orange dude do 6 consecutive shots. Another YUCK! They finally opened the doors for dinner and we got to sit down and enjoy our meal listening to Robin Leach talk about all the boring sponsors. Every once in a while I would jet outside to see if anyone had bid on the painting. YES! $700, then $900, then $1000, $1100, WOW! The grizzly was on fire. No not literally. Once it hit $1000, mum was brave enough to go and stand next to it and socialize a bit. Damn artists are so insecure. People were talking to us and complementing the painting and bidding. I actually had one man hold on to the clip board cause he didn't want anyone to out bid him. I told him to hand it over; he did and right when I put it back, someone out bid him!! Anyway, the painting managed to make $1900 for this charity and mum got 3 more painting out of it! We are the best team, well most of the time. When we don't fight we are on fire. Yes I like that saying.
So the night was a success. Wish there was a few more interesting people there with hotter outfits on. The Hawaiian tropics girls were a hit with their big boob and big hair. But other than that BORING!
