Mean people seem to be popping up everywhere these days. I can't seem to avoid their presence. Is being mean cool? I don't thinks so, but it seems that many people do. Yes I know there is that old saying "treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen," but that really only applies when you are interested in someone.
Why aren't people embracing the fact that we are different, and what we are on the outside is only one aspect of what we hold inside?
Being mean doesn't achieve anything, it just makes people unhappy and what good is that going to do?
The ironic thing about all of this meanness is the fact that these people think they are either not responsible for their actions (eg. " I wasn't being mean." or "I have never been told I am mean,") or are trying to save the world in some way (the ones who are part of social organizations where everything they stand for is being selfless or overly generous).
Big rule of advice: start saving the world and owning up to your meanness by treating people with respect. Then through this action people will respect you, themselves, and the world so much more. Stop the vicious circle. People will feel like there are reasons to recycle and become vegetarian, they will become active members of their community and so on.
Acting like you are better than others just makes you look bogus and makes other feel uncomfortable.
STOP THE MEANNESS! ONE AT A TIME!
