BLU
This was an extremely dark show. The curator had wallpaper everywhere. On the floor, the ceiling, the walls. They tore parts of it off too. It was a really grubby space. Kind of how you would expect a crack den to be like. You can tell it was beautiful at one point and it could be again, but was really rough at the time. The exhibit was in the basement. Small etchings and doodles were ripped out of sketchbooks and then nicely framed. The work was incredibly detailed and super dark. Made my stomach turn a lil. In a good way though.
Ericailcane is clearly fascinated with animals. Peculiar looking animals. Either they look odd or one animal is riding another. One theme I clearly noticed was role reversal. Usually animals riding humans. Or like the picture I posted, a rubber ducky riding the human.
Blu likes to play with the reversal as well. I found Blu's work dark and very direct. The way I like it. No beating around the bush. Tell it like it is. Put it right out there.
